Installation, basic usage, and software updates
Installation
- From the Download page, download the
.dmgfile for the version that matches your macOS. - Double-click the downloaded
.dmgto mount it. - Drag the IP Messenger app from the mounted window into your Applications folder.
- Launch IP Messenger from the Applications folder.
Basic operations
- User list — On launch, the app automatically lists everyone running IP Messenger on the same network.
- Sending a message — Select a recipient from the list, type your message, and send. You can also select multiple recipients to send at once.
- Receiving a message — Incoming messages are shown as pop-up notifications. You can also configure non-popup reception in the settings, in which case new messages are indicated by a bouncing Dock icon.
- Attaching files — Attach files and folders to your messages. You can also drag and drop files onto the window to attach them.

Basic operations and settings are largely the same as IP Messenger for Windows.
Software updates
IP Messenger for macOS supports automatic updates via Sparkle. When a new version is released, the app checks for updates at launch and notifies you. Follow the on-screen prompts to update to the latest version.
